Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The winter chill is gradually fading across West Bengal, with Kolkata experiencing a notable increase in temperatures. According to a recent statement from the regional headquarters of the Meteorological Department in Alipore on Thursday, the minimum temperature in Kolkata has been recorded at 17.4 degrees Celsius, marking a four-degree rise above the normal range. Simultaneously, the maximum temperature in the city reached 26.6 degrees Celsius, exceeding the usual limit by one degree.
This warming trend has led to a significant reduction in cold weather conditions in the state capital and other regions, such as Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Purulia, and Bankura, where temperatures are ranging between 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. Despite this, areas in North Bengal, including Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, and Kalimpong, continue to experience cooler temperatures around 10 degrees Celsius, maintaining a slightly colder climate.
